All of the RAID Arrays that were in degraded state recovered as of 5:15 PM. All services were enabled then. We are still replacing the failed disk drives at this time. We are closing the alert since services are running normal now.
At 2:09 PM, several disks in our RAID Arrays failed. These failures have not caused any data loss. But these failures have degraded the performance of the filesystem that email.psu.edu uses. As of 3:50 PM WebMail started to respond normally. Also at that time IMAP was responding normally. We have not re-enabled POP as the degraded RAID Arrays will cause the other services to slow down. We expect to replace the failed disks by 7:00 PM. We will update this alert around 6:00 PM or sooner if new information is available.
Starting at 2:09 PM WebMail and email.psu.edu starting slowing down. We believe the cause is a failed hard drive and are working to minimize it.
