All networking services disruptions related to the reboot and replacement of the Telecom6 router were resolved by 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2014.
ITS staff at this time have resolved remaining networking issues due to this outage. If your still experiencing a network problem please contact the Network Operations Center at 865-4662.
ITS staff has been working to resolve the remaining network disruptions. During investigation, we identified a symptom that required the router to be rebooted again. The reboot occurred at 9:50 PM and most services were restored by 10:00 PM. ITS will be working with customers to restore the networking services that remain disrupted.
The Telecom6 router chassis has been replaced. Most networking and voice services started to return by 5:30 PM. The router hardware appears to be working as expected; we are working to bring remaining networking services online.
While we are replacing the Telecom6 chassis, networking services provided by that router will be disrupted. In addition, there will be a disruption of voice services at the 300 Science Park Road Building, Bookstore, IST Building, and McAllister Building. The rest (a majority) of the voice service fed from that router will remain operational via redundant connectivity.
The emergency reboot did not resolve the issue with Telecom6 router. Vendor TAC is recommending that the chassis be replaced. At 5:00 PM EST we will take Telecom6 offline to replace the chassis. Estimated time to complete this work is 1 hour.
Due to issues with the chassis affecting a number of customer connections, there will be an emergency reboot of the Telecom6 router in 15 minutes. (Approximately 3:00 PM EST)
