The hardware problem with WebMail2's backend filesystem was identified tonight, Aug 17, 2006, at 6:43 PM. WebMail2's slowness was resolved at that time and we have since replaced the partially failing adapter. We wanted to confirm the backend filesystem was stable, before reporting WebMail2 was no longer experiencing any problems.
WebMail2's backend filesystem was designed to have redundancy in place for many failure conditions, unfortunately the one we had today, was only a partial failure. These type failures are much harder to protect against.
We apologize if this causes you/your staff any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience during this time.
We are currently experiencing a hardware issue with an adapter card on the backend filesystem of WebMail2. We are taking steps to minimize the affects of this problem. Users will see slow connections to WebMail2 until this is resolved. The problem started around Noon today and we have been working on it since that time.
