Information Technology Services is warning Penn State faculty, staff and students about the recent increase in fake Internet greeting postcards delivered by e-mail. These postcards contain a link in the message body, which when clicked, opens a Web browser and connects to a remote Web site where malicious code is downloaded to the computer. This code auto-executes, causing the newly compromised computer to become a member of a zombie robot network, or "botnet" which may result in data or identity theft. Users are advised to filter and delete these messages, and not to click on any embedded link. For more information, read the complete story: http://its.psu.edu/news/story-923
