Resolved: WebAccess Experiencing Slowness

Last updated on August 31, 2016 at 3:12PM

Update on August 31, 2016 at 3:12PM

Resolving the WebAccess alert with the service running for a week with monitoring and no continued degradation of the service reported.

Update on August 23, 2016 at 12:14PM

WebAccess, the University’s online single sign-on system, appears to be operating normally as of this morning, August 23. Technical teams are continuing to monitor systems and work through issues that occurred Monday, August 22.

To ensure students, faculty, and staff members can continue to access Canvas and ANGEL, the two systems were removed from behind WebAccess. As a result, users might need to log in an additional time when moving between ANGEL and Canvas and to/from other Penn State services, such as WebMail or Box, that are still behind WebAccess. Users can continue to use their Penn State user IDs and passwords to log in to Canvas and ANGEL.

Ongoing updates will be shared in Penn State News and via various University social media channels.

Update on August 22, 2016 at 4:02PM

WebAccess is currently operating slowly and/or at times completely unavailable. Technical staff are aware of and are working to rectify the issue. An announcement with updated information has been shared in Penn State News at http://news.psu.edu/story/421966/2016/08/22/webaccess-operating-slowly-or-unavailable.

Until WebAccess is completely restored, some students, faculty and staff members may still be able to access certain systems through:

- WebMail or UCS email: As an alternative to accessing email via a web browser, users can set up an email client that will bypass the WebAccess system. For instructions on how to do this, visit http://kb.its.psu.edu/email and select “POP3” from the menu.

- Canvas app: Users who have already downloaded the Canvas app and previously logged in should be able to access Canvas via the app.

- LionPATH app: Users who have already downloaded the LionPATH app and previously logged in should be able to access LionPATH via the app.

Ongoing updates will be shared in Penn State News and via various University social media channels as new information becomes available.
