Resolved: PASS Upgrade on Wednesday, January 4

Last updated on January 10, 2017 at 12:50PM

Update on January 10, 2017 at 12:50PM

A second problem related to the /pass/depts upgrade was identified. Please read http://alerts.its.psu.edu/alert-4405 for more information.

Update on January 4, 2017 at 7:48PM

The PASS team has finished copying the files. Users should now expect files in /pass/depts that they modified yesterday, but didn\'t modify today, to be the correct version again. If files were deleted yesterday, and appeared again today, they may be simply deleted again one last time. As stated earlier, if a user modified an old copy of a file today, which was not modified by this restoration effort, and still wants to receive a copy of the version saved yesterday, please place a request to itservicedesk@psu.edu to arrange for that copy to be placed in your space.

Further analysis of this problem is tracked in Service Now as PRB0040309.

Update on January 4, 2017 at 5:10PM

The PASS team has nearly finished the file restoration procedure and expects to be complete by 7 p.m.

Update on January 4, 2017 at 1:55PM

The PASS team have become aware of some files (~4800, 0.04% total files copied) that were missed during the last copy from the old /pass/depts filesystem to the new. Some users may have experienced some files missing or not at the latest version. The PASS team plans to copy the latest version seen before the maintenance to the new /pass/depts this afternoon; files that have been modified by the users since the maintenance will be ignored so users will not loose any new changes. Users may submit requests to itservicedesk@psu.edu to have files restored if they modified any of these files but still want a copy of the latest before the maintenance.

Update on January 4, 2017 at 8:06AM

All quotas in /pass/depts were restored by 7:55 a.m.

Update on January 4, 2017 at 7:23AM

All services were restored by 6:50 a.m.

Quota limits for /pass/depts are not currently set, but will be restored shortly.

Update on January 4, 2017 at 6:30AM

/pass/depts was upgraded properly, but /pass/services had a problem and had to be reverted. Services are being restored shortly. Full service restoration is expected by 7:30 a.m.
