Resolved: Known Error impacting 2nd Factor Authentication

Penn State IT staff and the Office of Information Security (OIS) have implemented a fix for 2nd Factor Authentication (DUO) around 1 p.m. today. If you are still experiencing issues, please make sure to clear all cache and browsing history for each browser you use. Use can follow these instructions: https://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache. You can also try a hard refresh by pressing SHIFT and R simultaneously.

The passcode option is now available when using 2nd Factor Authentication; however, there are still issues for some users when trying to authenticate with DUO. Please make sure your browser cache or history has been cleared, or try using a different browser. Another workaround is to try a different authentication method such as a phone call. Penn State IT staff and the Office of Information Security are currently investigating the issue. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

As of 7 a.m. on January 4, 2018, the 2nd Factor Authentication service (DUO) is in a degraded state. Not all users are impacted, but DUO token holders appear to be the most affected. Impacted services may include WebAccess, LionPATH, UCS, and any Penn State service requiring 2nd Factor Authentication. Penn State IT staff and Office of Information Security members are currently investigating the issue. More information will be shared on the IT Alerts page as it becomes available.

As of TIME 7a.m. on January 4, 2018 the 2nd Factor Authentication service is experiencing an Unexpected Outage. Services affected include WebAccess, LionPATH, UCS, and any Penn State service requiring 2nd Factor Authentication. Penn State IT staff and Office of Information Security members are currently investigating the issue, and more information will be shared on the IT Alerts page as it becomes available.
